In 2003, the world’s leading software provider Microgaming added another title to its constantly growing gaming portfolio, and more precisely High Limit Baccarat. The game quickly piqued the interest of baccarat fans and it is still one of the most sought-after titles when it comes to this game genre.
What makes this game exceptional is its improved interface that allows players to adjust the speed of the game, to view previous results, and to watch the game without placing bets. As its name suggests, the game is geared mainly towards the high rollers, but it does not mean that players with tight bankrolls have no place here. Truth to be told, Microgaming’s High Limit Baccarat carries a distinct, but familiar feel.

High Limit Baccarat Game Play
Microgaming’s High Limit Baccarat follows the classic rules of the game. Once you start playing this baccarat variation, you will need to make your bet. To do so, you need to place chips that reflect the amount of your wager. The chips are of different denomination values, and more precisely 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100, 200, and 500.
To place a bet, players need to click on one of the bet areas on the table. Provided that you wish to increase your bet, you need to click on a chip pile that is already placed on the table. If you want to decrease the value of your stake, you need to hold “Shift” on your keyboard and click on the chip pile of the bet you want to remove.
High Limit Baccarat offers 3 betting options, including the Player, the Banker, or Tie. It is important to note that baccarat fans can place bets on both the Banker and Tie or the Player and Tie. Once you set your wager and press the “Deal” button, the game round will commence.
Both the Player and the Banker will be dealt 2 face-down cards. You need to click on the “Flip” button to reveal the cards. A subsequent third card will be drawn for the Player and the Banker if required in accordance with the third-card rule.
High Limit Baccarat Specific Features
High Limit Baccarat is played with 8 decks of 52 playing cards and the Player’s first card is always dealt before the Banker’s first card. In addition to that, baccarat fans should keep in mind that there is a 5% commission fee that applies only to bets on the Banker. As for the value of the cards, Kings, Queens, Jacks, and 10s have no point value. The cards from 2 to 9 are worth their face value, while Aces are counted as 1.
Provided that the hand ends a tie, bets on the Banker or the Player are returned. Players should also know that they cannot place bets on both the Banker and the Player at the same time. The winning hand is the one with a total value closer to 9. If the total value of the cards in a given hand exceeds 9, then subtract 10 to receive the value of the hand.
With regard to the payout, it varies between the bets. If the Player’s hand wins, it pays out 1:1. The same is the payout ratio associated with the Banker’s hand, but here we should not forget to mention the 5% commission fee. Winning bets on a Tie come with a payout ratio of 8:1.
Among all UI features, the Watch feature is the most interesting one. It allows players to watch a single game without placing a bet. It is particularly useful if you want to improve your skills or build the History display.
Players can also enable the “Clear All” feature to clear all bets and statistics from their current session. Another feature we would like to discuss is the Autoplay mode which provides players with the opportunity to play a selected number of consecutive games with the same bet.
High Limit Baccarat by Microgaming comes with some unique features of the interface, but it does not offer something particularly new. The classic rules govern this variation of the game, making it a good choice for players whose baccarat career is in its infancy. In addition to that, the game comes with high-quality graphics and flawless animation.
